All-out efforts to be made to control dengue: EDO Health
RAWALPINDI: Executive District Officer (Health) Dr. ZafarIqbal Gondal has said that all out efforts would be made to control dengue.

He said that the health department has six special fogging machines and six light fogging machines while more light fogging machines are needed to make the campaign more effective.

This year, a large number of samples have already been collected from houses and various places during the larva sight campaign against dengue, he said adding a number of spots visits have also been conducted and samples have been obtained.

Where there is apprehension of existence of dengue larva, such spots are being targeted specially and the preventive measures are being taken more effectively in the light of the last year's experience.

He informed that on the special instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, anti-dengue campaign has been launched in Rawalpindi.

He said that all out efforts would be made to eliminate dengue and more aggressive approach in fight against dengue would be adopted this year.

He said anti-dengue spray would properly be conducted in all areas of Rawalpindi to prevent dengue virus.

He said that the government of Punjab would be requested for more resources to continue the spray campaign and take other necessary preventive measures in a more effective manner against dengue in Rawalpindi city.

He said that this year the concerned departments would make all possible efforts against dengue to save the citizens from this dangerous virus. Stern action would be taken against those who show slackness and negligence in this respect, he added.

The spray would be conducted in all areas including in government offices, universities, colleges, schools, hostels and other public places besides in the congested markets especially in tyres shops and markets.

He further said that a special checking system would be evolved and started with a view to ensure implementation of preventive measures in all areas of the city.

He said that this year, a comprehensive campaign would be conducted in the light of the last year's experience and more effective steps to be taken for controlling dengue virus.

Health department and all concerned departments especially TMAs would make joint efforts to make the campaign a complete success.

All the concerned officers have been directed to make earnest efforts and no area should be left without spray so that dengue could completely be eliminated, he added.

Meanwhile, Incharge Rawal Town operation Toseef Ahmed Malik has said that the town administration would also conduct operation in this regard. All the tyre shops of the city would thoroughly be checked and the tyres stored in open places would be confiscated. He warned the tyre shops owners to store the tyres in covered areas and they should be packed properly. (APP)
