MULTAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Javed Hashmi said on Monday that he was the presidential candidate against Asif Ali Zardari but Nawaz Sharif did not want this.
Speaking during a news conference alongside Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Hashmi said he was rejected as the presidential candidate because Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari were close friends.
Hashmi added that he told the PML-N that he had more votes than Zardari and the support of other political parties.
“Nawaz Sharif did not want me to run even though I had assured him that I would resign within one month after becoming the President” Hashmi said.
