Wall Street closes in red on eurozone concerns
NEW YORK: US stocks ended Wednesday modestly in the red following disappointing eurozone data that added to signs of recession in the debt-wracked region.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 26.87 points (0.21 percent) to 12,938.82 in closing trade.

The tech-rich Nasdaq Composite shed 15.40 points (0.52 percent) to 2,933.17, and the Standard & Poor's 500 index, a broad measure of the markets, lost 4.61 points (0.34 percent) to 1,357.60.

Wall Street followed a broad-based decline in European stocks, "courtesy of resurfacing recession concerns toward the eurozone in the wake of some disappointing services and manufacturing data," Charles Schwab analysts said. (AFP)
