ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan’s (MQM-P) headquarter in Karachi’s Bahadurabad on March 9, confirmed Sindh Governor Imran Ismail.
Speaking on Geo News programme “Aaj Shahzaib Khanzada Kay Saath” Imran Ismail said that PM Imran would visit Karachi on March 9 to meet ruling party's allies.
During his day-long stay in Karachi, the prime minister will meet the leadership of MQM-P and the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), he added.
Responding to a question, the governor said that there was no split between the ruling PTI and its allied parties, adding that they were enjoying good relations with MQM-P and others.
When asked if MQM-P had made any demand for its support to the government in view of the Opposition’s proposed no-trust motion against the prime minister, the governor replied that MQM stands with the PTI though they had reservations about inflation
“MQM-P could have contradictions with the government's policies, which we always try to dispel,” he added.
PM had already planned to visit Karachi to meet allies, the governor said, adding that they had many meetings with MQM in the governor's house but this time MQM-P requested to host the meeting between the prime minister and its leadership.
Replying to another question about the PM’s meeting with the Chaudhry brothers, the governor said that all the PTI’s allies are standing with the government.
He claimed that the no-confidence motion will fail if the Opposition tables it in the assembly.
On March 1, PM Imran had held a short meeting with the Chaudhry brothers of PML-Q as the Opposition targets PTI's allies to topple the incumbent government.
The prime minister's meeting at the Chaudhry brother's residence in Lahore — which was more than 30 minutes long — with PML-Q's top brass, who are allies of the government in Punjab and the Centre, came as he was on a one-day visit to the provincial capital.
Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood, Energy Minister Hammad Azhar, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar, and other PTI leaders accompanied by the prime minister during the meeting.
Apart from former prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat and Speaker Punjab Assembly Pervaiz Elahi, MNA Salik Hussain and Shafay Hussain were part of the meeting.
During the meeting, the prime minister had inquired about Shujaat's health. The former prime minister had thanked PM Imran Khan for visiting his house and inquiring about his health.
