Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sira-ul-Haq said Friday that Prime Minister Imran Khan has been raising slogans to transform the country into the state of Madina for many years but has taken no concrete steps to implement Islamic law or change the interest-based economy, The News reported.

Hundreds of Jamaat-e-Islami workers, a religio-political party, staged a protest demonstration and then a sit-in in front of the Sukkur Press Club against inflation and the government's "anti-people" policies.

Addressing the sit-in, Siraj-ul-Haq and other JI leaders stated that the party's leadership was continuing an ongoing statewide movement against inflation, unemployment, and IMF enslavement. They said that the participation of the masses in their protests against the PTI government was a success for Jamaat-e-Islami.

Haq reiterated that the JI's struggle was for the enforcement of the Islamic system and the protection of people's fundamental rights.

He stated that JI's rallies and sit-ins against the "incompetent government" would continue and his party has long advocated for human rights.

While condemning the Peshawar mosque attack and blaming the PTI government, Siraj-ul-Haq stated that individuals who spent government funds on rallies and paid money to the public should understand that the nation has had enough of them.

He stated that, in rejecting the Peca ordinance, Jamaat-e-Islami stood by the journalists during their struggle.

He asserted that the rulers were repressing the media through fascist means. He stated that the PTI and PPP are staging lengthy marches in order to safeguard their respective political interests and governments. The country's economy is on the edge of collapse as a result of the PTI's adherence to the IMF directives.

He urged that Governor State Bank Raza Baqir be immediately sacked for enabling the IMF's takeover of the central bank. He stated that MQM should be held accountable to the nation as to who used them in the May 12 tragedy.
