Pakistan-born Australian batter Usman Khawaja opened the batting for Australia as the second innings resumed on the third day of the opening test against Australia in Rawalpindi on Sunday.
Australia's innings was suspended early due to bad light after Babar Azam-led Pakistan declared their first innings with 476 runs on the board at the loss of four wickets.
On the third day on Sunday, the match resumed early morning with opening Aussie batters Khawaja — who ended on five — and David Warner — who was yet to score any runs, back on the pitch on Sunday.
Cricket Australia announced the resumption of innings with a tweet revealing that Khawaja was in a Rawalpindi ground after almost 30 years from when his family migrated to Australia.
"Two weeks before the Khawaja family left for Australia, a young Usman had a hit of cricket on the old Rawalpindi ground. Some 30 years later, he's back in Rawalpindi opening the batting for Australia," CA tweeted.
The tweet accompanied a combo of Khawaja's pictures, one from when he was just a boy and one from the ongoing innings.
"Daddy hundreds" of 185 from Azhar Ali and 157 from Imam-ul-Haq helped Pakistan score a commanding 476 for four before declaring their first innings on the second day of the opening test against Australia in Rawalpindi on Saturday.
Australia, on their first tour of Pakistan in 24 years, were five for no loss in reply when bad light forced early stumps, with their Islamabad-born opener Usman Khawaja on five and David Warner yet to score at the other end.
