LAHORE: Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 champions Lahore Qalandars' owner Atif Rana gifted a luxury car under his use to Qalandars skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Atif's brother and winning franchise's co-owner Sameen Rana shared in a recent interview that he had no intention of distributing gifts before the start of PSL season 7, when asked about the numerous gifts that have been presented on behalf of the franchise.
"It was when Fakhar Zaman hit a century that I said it was very special and Fakhar should get a reward for it," Sameen said.
Fakhar was named as the best batter in this season of PSL for scoring a spectacular maiden century against the Karachi Kings and seven half-centuries.
He said that this is where the trend of distributing gifts started.
Sameen further stated that people have questions about Shaheen's age but he is undoubtedly very young and still mature and has a big heart.
"Whenever he [Shaheen] got a gift, he used to give it away by distributing it among team members and sports staff," the Qalandars co-owner said.
He said that Shaheen and Atif had been jesting over a car the latter had and the former liked it very much.
"This is why Shaheen got a gift of his choice and I told Shaheen not to donate it because it was only for him," Sameen said.
Lahore Qalandars skipper Shaheen had led the team to their maiden PSL victory by beating defenders Multan Sultans by 42 runs in the finale last month.
