ISLAMABAD: Former PTI Balochistan President Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind called on PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday, days after resigning from the post of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, The News reported.

The two-hour-long meeting held at Zardari House, Islamabad, was also attended by former prime minister and leader of the Opposition in the Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani.

Rind's resignation from the ruling PTI and links with PPP at such a time when the joint Opposition is trying to bring a no-confidence motion against the government is being considered crucial as the politician has the support of over three MNAs and around six Balochistan MPAs.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Afzal Nadeem Chan, who has also served as a SAPM in PM Imran Khan's regime, had announced detachment from PTI and rejoined PPP.

Though Rind has not made any announcement of joining the PPP as yet, sources say that the issue of his political future with the PPP has been decided.

Rind resigns

Rind, who had been serving as the SAPM on activities pertaining to Ministries of Water Resources, Power and Petroleum in Balochistan tendered his resignation last Wednesday, saying the decision is final.

Speaking in a Geo News programme, Rind explained that previously, he had taken back his resignation on assurances held out to him by PM Imran Khan.

The veteran PTI leader, who is also the party’s parliamentary leader in the Balochistan Assembly, said he had sent his resignation to the prime minister two days ago, as the federal ministers had never contacted him on the matters pertaining to the issues of the province.

Moreover, he contended that the ministers had also never bothered to invite him to any meeting regarding Balochistan.
