KARACHI: The day-long Polling for by elections on six seats of National Assembly and two slots each of Sindh and Punjab assemblies has ended and counting of votes has begun, Geo News reported on Saturday.
The people who made into the polling stations before 5 PM would be able to cast their votes.
Earlier, polling continued throughout the day under strict security measures to avoid any unpleasant incident, Geo News reported Saturday.
Irregularities and incidents of firing were reported in various constituencies during the polling.
In NA-168 constituency of Vihari exchange of firing took place between rival groups and as a result two kids among three people were injured. Police arrested seven accused on charges of firing.
In NA 140 Kasur constituency, two groups traded fire due to which polling had to be suspended till the police and Rangers reached the spot to bring the situation under control.
Some political workers displayed arms at different polling stations in Badin while women were restricted to cast their votes in Mianwali constituency.
Fake voters were spotted in NA 195 Rahim Yar Khan constituency where votes were allowed to be cast with fake or expired identity cards. The voters' lists were allegedly changed in the constituency that sparked the protest. However, Assistant Election Commission Noor Leghari insisted that voters' lists were not changed.
