DHAKA: Khulna Royal Bengals defeated Sylhet Royals by a big margin of 69 runs in a Twenty20 match of the Bangal Premier League here at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Monday.
Chasing a huge total of 187 set by Khulna, Sylhet were bundled out for 117 runs in 16 overs.
Main scorers were Sohail Tanvir (26 not out) and Peter Trego (23).
Earlier, Sylhet won the toss and put Khulna into bat who plundered a big score of 186 for the loss of only two wickets in the allotted 20 overs, thanks to a brilliant century by Dwayne Smith.
Smith hammered an unbeaten 103 from 73 balls with six sixers and as many boundaries.
He was ably supported by Herschelle Gibbs who made 41 with six fours and a six.
Smith was involved in big partnerships – first with Gibbs for a 86-run second wicket and then a 100-run third wicket stand with captain Shakib Al Hasan (21 not out).
The match was telecast live and exclusively by Geo Super.
