DHAKA: Former national team captain Mohammad Hafeez believes that Shaheen Afridi has a bright future as a captain and exceptional leadership qualities and the player should not overburden himself by playing in "every league".

According to cricketer Muhammad Hafeez, who is presently in Bangladesh to play in the Dhaka Premier League, Shaheen Afridi is a budding star in international cricket.

Hafeez said that making Lahore Qalandars champions has given Shaheen a wonderful start to his captaincy career, adding that the young bowler has a bright future as a captain and exceptional leadership qualities.

However, Hafeez expressed concern about the workload the cricketer has been given.

"I believe he [Shaheen Afridi] should focus on his fitness and not take part in every league," Hafeez said.

On a question about his international cricket career, Hafeez stated, "I am not thinking about my future and coaching at this time; I am rather careful in moving forward following a method; I will surely consider coaching; nevertheless, I am enjoying cricket at the moment."
