  • Man ran away out of fear of imprisonment.
  • Upon bag search, alcohol was found.
  • Security is finding him through CCTV footage.

Lahore airport authorities said that a bottle of alcohol was found in a bag belonging to a man who flew in from a foreign country.

They said that the man left his stuff and ran away when he feared getting caught and imprisoned. The bottle of alcohol was found when his unclaimed bag was searched. The authorities are identifying the man through CCTV footage.

This was not an isolated incident, as many such incidents have happened at Pakistani airports in the past too. Once, the Airport Security Force foiled a drug smuggling operation at the Islamabad Airport and detained two passengers.

During the screening process at the airport, drugs were found hidden in the stomachs of the passengers. Akin to that, a male passenger carrying 350 grams of gold — worth 1.8 million Indian rupees — was caught at the Hyderabad Airport in India.

Hyderabad Customs filed a case against the man for smuggling over a hundred beads of gold that were stitched onto a burqa, a long dress for women.

In another instance, at least 65 smartphones were recovered from a passenger by the Customs at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore on Friday.

Customs DC Saqib Waraich confirmed the recovery, saying that the seized phones were believed to be worth more than Rs24 million. He said the passenger was coming from Dubai.
