KARACHI: Top seed Ali Bokhari and unseeded Tayyab Aslam cruised into the final of boys U19 event in PARCO 4th Roshan Khan Junior Open Squash here Tuesday at Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan Jahangir Khan Squash Complex.
Ali proved too good for third seed Ahmed Amin in semifinals and recorded a convincing and straight-set 11-6, 11-2, 11-8 triumph.
Meanwhile, Tayyab Aslam dropped a set before beating Ammad by 11-7, 11-7, 13-15, 11-4 score to secure an unexpected place in the final.
In boys U17semifinals, Asim Khan defeated Babrak Khan by 11-3, 11-4, 11-8 score. He would now face second seed Safiullah Kakar, who overpowered fourth seed Salman Zeb by 11-8, 11-8, 7-11, 11-9 score.
The only foreign player surviving in the tournament, Iranian favorite Aillee Nayeri found little resistance from Nimra Shahid and recorded a formidable 11-4, 11-6, 11-3 triumph to confirm her presence in the final of girls U15 event. She would face second seed Madina Zafar, who defeated Mayral Sheikh by 11-2, 11-1, 11-3 score.
Saadia Gul secured an unexpected place in the final of girls U19 event after she overcame favorite Riffat Khan in semifinal. Saadia led the pre-final 15-13, 12-10 when Riffat retired from the match.
In the summit clash, Saadia will taken on second seed Samar Anjaum. Samar recovered from two sets down to beat Faiza Zafar by 8-11, 4-11, 11-4, 11-9, 11-9 score to confirm her presence in the final. (PPI)
