  • Instagram has introduced two new options to control feed.
  • Users will be able to select a list of 'favourites'.
  • Up to 50 accounts can be added in this list.

The head of Instagram Adam Mosseri has announced that the company is bringing back the chronological feed on Instagram, Meta reported.

This new version will offer users two options, Meta shared in their blog post.

The first one will be called 'Following', which will chronologically show posts of the people you follow.

The second would be 'Favourites'. Up to 50 accounts can be marked as favourites. Choosing this option would mean only posts by these accounts will be available — also chronologically.

Additionally, the algorithm will prioritise the posts from the user’s favourite accounts showing them higher in the home feed.

Since people will not be notified if they are added or removed from the Favourites list, it can be edited at any time.

These features can be selected by tapping the Instagram logo at the top. The settings will not be default and users will have to select the feed they want manually. Otherwise, the usual algorithm-based feed will appear on the screen.

Meta aims to increase user-friendliness and said, “We want you to be able to shape Instagram into the best possible experience, and giving you ways to quickly see what you’re most interested in is an important step in that direction.”
