Cop accidently shot dead

KARACHI: A police constable was shot dead accidently by his colleague near Rainbow Centre, Saddar area in the limits of Preedy police station on Friday, police said.

An official at the police station said the deceased Fahim Akhtar and Ghulam Qadir were on their duty when gun went off.

The gun was put on lap of Ghulam Qadir and went off when he triggered it unintentionally and hit Fahim while he was cleaning his bike. The gun was loaded before shift change.

Fahim sustained two bullets in his back -one of it crossed his body while other one was stuck in chest.

The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities. Police lodged case number 126/2012 under section 302 of Pakistan Panel Code (PPC). (PPI)
