Actors will change in the political drama: Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi

• Rallies to have no effect no-confidence vote, says PML-Q's Elahi.
• Time for a “drop scene in the political drama” has not arrived, he says.
• Those who bring religion into politics have no future in the field, he adds.

LAHORE: Holding public rallies in Islamabad will have no effect on the vote of no-confidence in the National Assembly and the actors in political drama will change, said the speaker of the Punjab Assembly as the country heads towards crisis.

In an informal gathering with journalists in Lahore, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the speaker of Punjab Assembly and the leader of the PML-Q, an important ally of the ruling PTI, said that the time for a “drop scene in the political drama” had not arrived, as the “actors” will change.

Without giving details, he added that for now the “dish has been cooked”, of which half has already been distributed and the other half is being handed out.

Elahi, in an indirect reference to PM Imran Khan, also stated that those who bring religion into politics have no future in the field.

On another question, the speaker told journalists that the medicine, for the illness of those sitting outside Pakistan, has yet to come.

Earlier in the day, federal ministers Pervez Khattak and Shah Mehmood Qureshi met Elahi in Lahore to deliver an important message from the prime minister.

The PML-Q is a coalition partner of the ruling PTI, and its vote in the no-trust motion against the prime minister is essential for both the opposition parties and the government.

While the voting on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan is just days away, the government is trying to woo its allies.

The Opposition is also attempting to cajole the PTI partners and seeking to break the government alliance in the lower house — by holding back-to-back meetings with them.

PM Imran Khan has said that he is ready for everything that the Opposition plans to throw his way — but he has also intensified meetings with allies ahead of the crucial NA session.
