KARACHI: Favorites Hossein Wafaei Ayouri of Iran and two Thailand cuemen Thepachaiya Un-Nooh and Noppon Saengkham stormed into the quarterfinal after seizing their third win in the 7-nation International Snooker Championship at Hotel Pearl Continental on Tuesday.
Top seed and Reigning World Champion Ayouri thrashed Naveen Perwani of Pakistan in four straight frames with brilliant break of 103 in the final frame. The 17-year-old snooker sensation notched up an easy 73-59, 69-24, 96-0, 107-37 victory.
Second seed Thepachaiya Un-Nooh raced to his fourth win in a row to emerge as group "B" Champions by beating Habib Sabah of Bahrain 65-12, 52-17, 32-83, 52-6, 69-54.
Earlier on Monday night eighth seed Noppon Saengkham defeated Sharjeel Mahmood of Pakistan to record his third win group "A" to cement his place in the last eight round.
Ayouri and Noppon are scheduled to clash in their final league rounds to decide the group winners.
Pakistan suffered a blow when their ace cueist and former Asian championship Muhammad Sajjad suffered his second defeat going down to Thepchaiya Unnooh of Thailand 4-1. Thai cueist smashed a superb break of 129 during which is tournament's highest so far.
Thai cueist also chalked out the breaks of 78, 50 in the first two frames.
Top two cueists from each of the groups will advance in the quarterfinal round of the competition.( APP)
