Lahore: New waste management system for city soon, says CM
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that a comprehensive, organized and transparent system of cleanliness would be launched in Lahore with the collaboration of Turkish companies in next three months.

Addressing a function on the topic of new solid waste management city in Lahore at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, on Wednesday, he termed the joint venture of Punjab Government and Turkish companies as a good omen for the development of country.

Representatives of Turkish companies, Chairman Board of Directors Lahore Waste Management Company Kh. Ahmad Hasaan, Assembly Members, government officers and a large number of citizens were present on the occasion.

CM said that an organized system of cleanliness has been evolved for the provincial metropolis through hard work and efforts of the last three years. He said that modern machinery for cleanliness has been acquired with the collaboration a private company of Turkey.

He said that after Lahore, the scope of this system will be extended to other cities of Punjab including Gujranwala, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Multan, Sargodha, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur.

The Chief Minister said that a huge sum of 2.5 billion was being spent annually for the cleanliness of Lahore, however, due to the problems of solid waste management, the new system has been introduced with the cooperation of Turkey.

Khawaja Ahmad Hasaan, Rafey Alam, Zara Aslam and senior journalist Iftikhar Ahmad also spoke on this occasion. (APP)
