Flanked by other police officials, DIG Operations said that since January, 2012 police dismantled eight groups involved in kidnapping citizens for ransom, car lifting, motorbike snatching and robberies.
"Taking stern action against the kidnappers, we have busted one active group with recovery of sophisticated weapons from their possession in previous week," he said adding steps are afoot to ensure peace in Quetta.
He noted that CM Balochistan Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani awarded police personnel for their bravery during the recent raid conducted in Satellite Town against the gang of kidnappers.
He said that Quetta police have arrested 32 proclaimed offenders, 156 absconders and 215 hardened criminals during the search operation launched in various localities of the city in the span of two months.
To a question, he said that we have clear directives from the CM Balochistan to take strict action against those found guilty irrespective of their influence and position.
"We don't have any evidence about the involvement of any MPA in crimes, he noted, however, no one is above the law and would have to undergo same procedure on equal basis", he added.
While giving the details of seizures and various raids conducted in parts of the city, Mr Qazi said that black mirrors were removed from 1125 tinted vehicles, besides we seized 31 non-custom paid vehicles, 776 kg hashish and 245 bottles of alcohol.
During the routine checking 59 pistols, 10 Kalashnikovs, 11 rifles and 4150 rounds were also recovered, he added.
He said that steps were being taken to change police station culture, adding station house officer of every police station would listen to people's complaints.
He deplored that due to the manpower and less available resources with police department, it has become difficult for the police force to cater with the increasing crimes, however, he said that about 400 passing out recruits would help improve the performance of the police. (APP)
