RAWALPINDI: Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday inaugurated the newly constructed Chandni Chowk Flyover which has been completed at a cost of Rs 1,216 million.
After the formal inauguration ceremony held here, the flyover on Benazir Bhutto road has been opened for traffic.
Earlier during a briefing, the CM was informed that the flyover's completion deadline was March 13 but it was completed and inaugurated three days before the deadline.
The renovation work, installation of lights on the flyover, carpeting of the road on the bridge and other finishing work was completed on Thursday and now, the traffic coming on the Benazir Bhutto Road from Benazir Bhutto Hospital to Sixth Road will use the bridge to cross the Chandni Chowk.
The CM was also informed that the remaining work on the project, including service roads, will be completed within stipulated time-frame.
The total cost of the project was Rs 1,216 million, including construction cost of Rs 996 million.
The CM on this occasion announced Rs1.5 million financial assistance for the labourers who worked hard and the project was completed within record period. (APP)
