Asia Cup: Pak openers dominate BD bowlers with century stand
DHAKA: Openers Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed provided Pakistan a sound start in the opening match of the Asia Cup one-day tournament here at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.

Both made together 120 runs for the first wicket partnership without being separated as 25 overs were bowled after Bangladesh won the toss and put Pakistan into bat in the Asia Cup opener.

Hafeez and Nasir were batting on 66 and 48, respectively.

Hafeez completed his 13 th ODI fifty in 72 balls a while Nasir needs just two runs to reach his fifth half-century in ODI cricket.

Defending champions India and Sri Lanka are the other teams in the tournament. Each side will play the other once in the round-robin league, with the top two playing the final on March 22.

This is the first match of Dav Whatmore as Pakistan coach.

Azhar Ali is not playing in the match as Nasir Jamshed, included in the squad after a long time, has opened the innings with Mohammad Hafeez.
