A bride was allegedly shot dead by a man whose marriage proposal she had rejected, Hindustan Times reported.

The wedding ceremony was happening in India's Mathura's Mubarikpur village of Naujheel area on Friday.

Kajal was shot right after the "Jai Mala" ritual.

The traumatised father informed a news agency that after the ritual, Kajal had gone to the dressing room to freshen up. There, a man barged into the room and shot her.

The family had rushed to the venue after hearing the gunshot. The father registered a complaint at a police station soon after the incident.
