ISLAMABAD: The counsel for Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in the contempt of court case, Aitzaz Ahsan said the prime minister expressed his stance in the case in accordance with the constitution.
Ahsan while speaking to Geo News said the prime minister was a defendant in the case and the defendant had the basic right to present his stance.
Ahsan added that analysts did not read the 24 page reply submitted by the prime minister to the Supreme Court. The prime minister’s counsel said he was astonished that analysis was being given by those who had not even read the reply.
Ahsan emphasized that Prime Minister Gilani had not insulted the apex court but rather had raised objections regarding the bench.
When asked what would be the Prime Minister’s reaction to the Supreme Court’s decision, Ahsan replied that the matter was between the Prime Minister and Supreme Court.
In his reply to the Supreme Court, Prime Minister Gilani had taken the stance that those judges who had issued the show cause notice should not have been part of the trial.
