Residents without power for 2 days in Korangi-6
KARACHI: The residents of Korangi-6 have been experiencing a power failure that began on Thursday and continues till today (Saturday).

The residents of Sector 51-B Korangi no 6 market have been facing sever hardship in carrying out daily activities in the absence of electricity since the KESC Pahari Wali PMT tripped two days ago on Thursday.

Several schools, a mosque, a girls' college, eight private doctors' clinics besides 2500 residents of the area have been left to suffer the hot and humid weather for the past 48 hours.

KESC spokesman, Amin-ur-Rehman when contacted, said an amount of Rs6.2 million stood outstanding as unpaid dues against defaulting consumers in the area that gets electricity through the above PMT.

The KESC complaint centre in the area said the company was not sending its staff to fix the fault in the PMT because of the unpaid dues. The KESC sources, however, admitted that the percentage of consumers paying their bills regularly is much higher than that of the defaulters.
