Politcal parties to take down flags within 24 hours: Rehman Malik

KARACHI: Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Sunday that politcal parties were being given 24 hours to remove flags from official buildings and public places.

Speaking to the media after attending a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister House, Malik said if the flags were not removed then they would be taken off by the police.

The Interior Minister said he had met with the leadership of the ANP and would be meeting MQM leaders on Sunday night. Malik stressed that action would be taken under the anti-terrorism act against those who were forcefully shutting down shops in the city.

The high-level meeting which discussed the security situation in Karachi was also attended by DG Rangers, IG Sindh and chaired by Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah.

During the meeting it was also decided that indiscriminate action would be taken against criminal elements in the city. IG Sindh also informed the participants that certain groups from political parties were involved in killings in the city.
