KARACHI: A partial transport strike was observed in the metropolis on Tuesday.
The call to this effect was given by the Karachi Transport Ittehad (KTI).
Most of buses, mini-buses as well as coaches remained off the road. However, the rickshaws and taxis were seen plying as usual besides six-seater Quinqui rickshaws on the roads.
The commuters faced quite a difficulty in the wake of the strike call.
The attendance in the offices as well as the academic institutions was also affected as a result.
Meanwhile, in a statement the president of the KTI, Syed Irshad Hussain Bukhari, apologised to the people because of the inconveniences they faced because of the transport strike on Tuesday.
He maintained that the purpose of the strike was not to enhance the fares.
This, he added, was aimed at drawing attention towards the problems being faced by the transporters. (APP)
