PESHAWAR: NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recovered Rs.32.3194 million looted money during the first quarter of the year 2012 under Voluntary Return and Plea Bargain, said a spokesman NAB here Thursday.

The outstanding amount of Rs.5.374 million will be recovered as per schedule of installments making total amount to Rs.36.2334 million.

Giving details of the quarterly performance report, the public sector embezzled amount has been deposited in government's exchequer while the amount recovered from persons involved in cheating public at large is being distributed among the affectees.

As many as 487 complaints against departments, persons involved in cheating received during the period and disposed off on priority basis accordingly. The flow of complaints is a manifestation of public confidence over the Bureau, he maintained.

Similarly, 8 inquiries authorized against the accused persons whereas 5 inquiries were converted into investigations. Apart from that 13 fresh references, 3 appeals and 4 writ petitions filed during the period.

The court decided 4 references, 5 appeals and 34 writ petitions in favor of NAB. The total amount involved in references filed in the court during the first quarter comes to Rs. 333.618 million.

The court convicted 4 accused persons and announced imprisonment with fine. Moreover, 5 accused persons were arrested on alleged charges of misappropriation and sent to judicial custody. (APP)
