PESHAWAR: Peshawar clinched the trophy by securing 110 points with six gold and two silver medals in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-Regional Women Judo Championship, which concluded at Government Post Graduate College for Women Haripur on Saturday.
Principal of the Government Post Graduate College for Women Haripur, Mrs. Chaman Farkhanda was the chief guest on this occasion. Director Sports (Female Games) Rashida Ghaznavi, Organizing Secretary Aysha Batool, Pakistan Women Judo team Aysia, national players Iram Shehzadi, Kiran Shehzadi, Ansa Hussain, Secretary Pakistan Judo Federation Masood Ahmad and large number of spectators were also present on this occasion and witnessed the thrilling battles.
Hazara, which was tied with Kohat on the opening day, raced up by taking second position after securing 85 points with three gold and four silver medals while Kohat got third position with 47 points. Kohat got one gold, two silver and as many bronze medals, Bannu got 40 points with one silver and three bronze medals and Mardan remained at 5th position with one silver and three bronze medals by securing 28 points.
Speaking on this occasion, Principal of Govt Post Graduate College for Women Haripur, Mrs. Chaman Farkhanda lauded the efforts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Board for holding 12 different women games in which teams from all regions took part. She said out of 21 different disciplines 12 have been specifically selected for the female was very encouraging steps on the part of the Directorate. She stressed on the girls players to keep on their healthy activities. (APP)
