GILGIT: The curfew imposed here has been lifted for twelve hours. Offices and markets in the city have opened but there is severe shortage of food and petroleum products.
Curfew had been imposed in Gilgit after protests triggered unrest following the Chilas tragedy. The curfew has been lifted from 6AM till 6PM.
Police and army personnel continue to patrol the area to maintain law and order. During the last fifteen days curfew has been relaxed only six times which has led to a severe shortage in essential items. People are experiencing difficulties in purchasing wheat, milk and sugar.
