Supreme Court to indict Babar Awan tomorrow
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Tuesday while rejecting Senator Babar Awan's unconditional apology, decided not to withdraw the contempt of court's proceedings against him and will frame the charge on April 26.

A two-member bench of the apex court comprising Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Muhammad Athar Saeed heard contempt of court case against Babar Awan, former Law Minister.

During the hearing, when the court insisted to frame the charge against Babar Awan in absence of his counsel, Babar Awan came at the court's rostrum and said that due process was not being followed in his case. He said his civil miscellaneous application was pending in the court, which should be heard.

Babar said superior bars had stopped him to argue in this case but it is a matter of concern that if a politician says something, the court did not take notice but on the same place, if a lawyer talks about the similar matter, he is indicted.

Babar Awan said his counsel was not available till May 8; therefore the court should adjourn this case. The court however rejected his plea and ruled to frame the charge against him tomorrow (Thursday). On last hearing, the court had reserved the verdict and decided to frame charge against Babar Awan on Tuesday.
