ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has been invited by NATO to attend the upcoming Chicago summit.
According to Foreign Office spokesman, President Zardari was given an unconditional invitation to attend the summit which is under consideration by the government.
A spokesman of Nato has also confirmed the sending of invitation to the President for Chicago Summit.
The summit is scheduled to be held on 20-21 May and will discuss a road map for NATO’s post-2014 role in Afghanistan.
During a news conference last week, NATO Secretary General Andres Fogh Rasmussen had stressed on Pakistan to reopen the supply route which was stopped following an attack on a check-post in Mohmand agency in which 24 Pakistani soldiers were killed.
Rasmussen had also failed to mention Pakistan as an invitee to the summit.
