US hails Nawaz-Modi meeting

WASHINGTON: The United States on Friday welcomed meeting between prime ministers of Pakistan and India.

According to a statement issued by the State Department, Washington supports measures aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi met on the sidelines of the SCO summit on Friday morning in the Russian city of Ufa.

The two leaders discussed all important matters of mutual interest during the meeting which continued for about one hour. It took place on the desire of the Indian side. The two prime ministers shook hands before the start of talks.
