ISLAMABAD: Dr Shakeel Afridi, who was sentenced to prison for 33 years amid intelligence reports accusing him of treason against Pakistan, is likely to be shifted from Peshawar Central Jail to Attock Fort.
Reliable sources said, intelligence agencies had warned the government that extremist organisations were about to attack Dr Afridi and his imprisonment in Peshawar jail was dangerous with regard to security concerns. So, the agencies asked for him to be shifted to a safe and secure location, the sources added.
Dr Afridi had informed Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) about the presence of al Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad.
Owing to this information, the US attacked the compound of Bin Laden in Abbottabad and killed him on May 2, 2011.
