IPOH: Pakistan were crashed out of the race of the final in the Azlan Shah hockey tournament after they were defeated by hosts Malaysia 2-3 here on Wednesday.
This was third consecutive defeat for Pakistan in the tournament.
Pakistan made an aggressive start in the match scoring two quick goals against Malaysia .
The first goal was made by Umar Bhutta in the fourth minute and this lead was improved to 2-0 within two minutes when Shafqat Rasool netted a goal
Pakistan was leading 2-0 in the first half but Malaysia fought back in the second half and equaled the score 2-2.
Then in the last minute of the game, Malaysia succeeded in making another goal to win the match 3-2.
In other matches, Britain made an upset beating New Zealand 2-1 while Argentina won by 3-2 to crash India out of the race of the final in the event.
