ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar said Friday that it was necessary to raise slogans in the assembly during the Finance Ministers budget speech, because this is how they could ensure that the voice of the people would be heard.
Nisar was addressing the media outside the National Assembly following Finance Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh’s budget speech.
“We will continue to protest in the National Assembly in this manner from now on,” Nisar said when referring to the protest and sloganeering by PML-N parliamentarians during the budget speech. PML-N parliamentary and those from the government also got into a physical altercations while the Finance Minister was delivering his speech.
Criticizing the government, Nisar added that when the country is drowning in floods the President and his troupe are touring France, adorning suits valuing in the hundreds of thousands.
“There is a corruption consortium in Pakistan,” Nisar said.
Nisar also questioned how Dr. Sheikh could present the budget today (Friday) when yesterday he presented the Economic Survey highlighting the failures of the government.
