France beat Ukraine 2-0 in Euro 2012 Group D match
DONETSK: France leapfrogged Euro 2012 co-hosts Ukraine in the Group D table here on Friday after beating them 2-0.

Second-half goals by Jeremy Menez - who had been brought into the starting line-up by coach Laurent Blanc - and Yohan Cabaye were enough to secure the three points and move on to four points, a point above Ukraine after two games.

The only concern for Blanc may be leading striker Karim Benzema who looked to have suffered an injury during the second-half and was eventually replaced by Olivier Giroud.

England could join France at the top if they beat pointless Sweden later in Kiev.

The game had originally been suspended for 57 minutes after the referee Bjorn Kuipers took the players off five minutes into the game because of torrential rain. (AFP)
