QUETTA: Thwarting a major terror bid in the making, the police on the night between Monday and Tuesday apprehended a couple of terrorists with a sizable cache of bomb-grade explosives and firearms, Geo News reported.
According to police, the suspects landed in the hands of law-enforcers after a patrolling party intercepted a car moving suspicious on Zarghoon Road near Governor House in the provincial capital of Balochistan.
A thorough search of the car resulted in the recovery of explosives. Upon this discovery, the police handcuffed the one who was driving the car and kick-started interrogation, which paid fast.
Meanwhile, bomb disposal experts were also summoned, who, carefully handling the explosive material, separated the bomb-grade charges from ball bearings, nails, detonator, and remote-control.
Later, the bomb defusing squad said that all the stuff was arranged in the form of a bomb ready to explode.
The police somehow made the suspect cough out some information, which pointed to a place in Sariab area of Quetta. Following the lead the lawmen raided the building without wasting any time and succeeded in collaring another suspect recovering loads and loads of arms as well as ammo.
According to sources, further investigation revealed the suspected terrorists belonged to a banned militant outfit.
Sources also added that the hardened policemen cracked the tough nuts even further to get more confessions out of them like they had perpetrated various terrorist activities in the past including Almo Chowk blast and that they were planning to bomb sensitive installations/buildings on Jinnah Road one of these days.
