Turkish air strikes kill 9 Daesh fighters in Syria
Beirut: Turkish warplanes killed nine fighters of Daesh in strikes on militants positions in Syria on Friday, a monitor said.

"Turkish aircraft carried out three strikes on Daesh positions in northeastern Aleppo province, killing nine... and wounding 12," said Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The warplanes hit positions along the Turkish border west of the town of Jarablus and destroyed a truck mounted with a heavy machinegun.

The operations came after the first major cross-border clashes between Turkey and Daesh Thursday left one Turkish soldier and one militant dead, thrusting Turkey into open conflict with the militants.

The bombings were the first by the Turkish air force on Daesh since the extremists began their advance across Syria and Iraq, seizing control of swathes of territory right up to the Turkish border. (AFP)
