Here's something Pakistani females should look forward to this Women's Day

Each year, March 8 is observed as International Women’s Day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women from all around the world.

This year Pakistani women have something exciting to look forward to as  Careem — a ride-hailing service operating — announced its plan to launch a new women-driven motorbike service, catering exclusively to its female customers.

The company announced that the service will commence in Karachi and make its way to other cities in Pakistan, urging women — who are interested in working as female captains and getting access to flexible income opportunities — to get themselves registered.

According to the details shared by Careem, the service includes two models — part-time (five hours) and full-time (10 hours) — for which the company guarantees a monthly payment of Rs30,000 and Rs50,000 respectively.

In addition to this, the ride-hailing firm is offering female motorbike captains "0% commission, bonuses, and guarantees as well as priority access to Careem’s safety and security helpline".

Women interested in the service can visit the DHA or Gulshan Careem opportunity centre or visit the Careem Captain Facebook page.

During times when women are fighting for their rights and equality at workplaces, more than 1,700 female captains drive Careem customers across multiple car types on the platform.

The everyday Super App for the greater Middle East region is incentivising all its female captains across all car types by offering special bonuses, making it more lucrative for them to work on the platform.

Careem’s new women-driven motorbike service will enable and empower women in Pakistan to access "flexible income-generating options and achieve financial stability as Captains".

Commenting on the new service, Careem Pakistan General Manager Imran Saleem said: "Women are an integral part of our society and constitute a large number of our overall customer base.

“Careem’s women-driven motorbike service will help our female customers to break barriers through access to safe, reliable and affordable transport. This affordable transport is particularly needed during such challenging economic times which have made it harder for families to run households on a single income. "

International Women's Day focuses on a call to action for accelerating gender parity and setting agendas and goals in achieving these targets. Events, talks, and awareness campaigns are organised to achieve this goal.
