HYDERABAD: Law enforcement agencies brought the situation under control at the Central Jail Hyderabad after prisoners took 15 personnel hostage in a failed jailbreak attempt, Geo News reported.
A prisoner was killed and six others injured when LEAs opened fire during the protest of inmates in the Central Prison. According to reports, the inmates protesting against the lack of facilities came out of their barracks in the Central Jail and made 15 officials hostage. LEAs resorted to aerial firing and used tear gas for the release of officials.
DG Jails, Gulzar Channa told Geo News that high profile inmates including accused in Daniel Pearl case are present in the central jail and the action was taken as there was fear of jailbreak.
