DERA GHAZI KHAN: Police claimed to have killed an alleged terrorist near Ghazi Ghat bridge,around 20 kilometres away from the city in Drahma police limits here on Wednesday.
Accused Abdul Ghaffar Qaisarani was shot at and killed by CIA police Multan while he was trying to blow himself up by a hand grenade.
DPO DG Khan Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem said the accused was a dangerous criminal and a member of an outlawed organization.
He said CIA police Multan came to know that the alleged terrorist was aboard a bus (Al-Fareed Coach) travelling from Sadiqabad to DG Khan. Police stopped the bus near Ghazi Ghat bridge and asked the accused to disembark. The accused, however, refused. He then disembarked after some time and ran away. He tried to blow himself up by a hand grenade. Police, however, shot at and killed him.
Multan Police left the body of the accused in DG Khan. Upon receiving the information, DPO DG Khan, DSP Sadar and other officials reached the site and sent the body to hospital for postmortem.
The accused was wanted in Taunsa bank dacoity case in which three people had lost their lives.
The accused accompanying his accomplices had conducted a bank dacoity in Taunsa Sharif tehsil on May 14, 2011 and had allegedly killed three people.
It may be noted that another alleged terrorist Imran Arshad involved in Taunsa bank dacoity was already in Police custody and Police believe that Imran was also involved in an attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore.
Accused Qaisarani was a resident of Vehoa, an area of Taunsa Sharif tehsil, district DG Khan. (APP)
