Tom Cruise marks Global Running Day with hilarious 'Mission: Impossible' post

Tom Cruise, renowned for his onscreen running prowess, recently took to Twitter to celebrate Global Running Day. 

In a humorous post, the 60-year-old actor shared a GIF from his upcoming Mission: Impossible sequel, showcasing his character, Ethan Hunt, dashing across the screen. 

Cruise's Twitter caption read, "Running in #MissionImpossible movies since 1996. #GlobalRunningDay." He also shared the clip and caption on his Instagram Story, highlighting the original Mission: Impossible from 1996. 

To update his social media profiles, Cruise playfully modified his bio to read, "Running in movies since 1981," referring to his early onscreen appearances in films like Endless Love and Taps.

Global Running Day is a worldwide celebration that encourages people of all ages and abilities to engage in running. It serves as a reminder of the positive impact running can have on physical and mental health while promoting unity.

Cruise will reprise his role as Hunt in the highly anticipated seventh Mission: Impossible movie, marking the franchise's first installment since 2018. 

The film follows Hunt and his team as they embark on a mission to track down a dangerous new weapon that poses a threat to humanity. 

The official synopsis teases an intense global race throughout the movie, as Hunt confronts a powerful adversary and faces the difficult choice of prioritizing his mission over the lives of his loved ones.

The seventh Mission: Impossible film is written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, a longtime collaborator of Cruise's who previously directed the franchise's last two installments and wrote Top Gun: Maverick.
