DERA GHAZI KHAN: Eight people were killed while 75 others sustained injuries when two buses collided on the Indus Highway near Kala Colony, some 20 kilometres away from here on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday.
SHO Kala police station Riaz said that two buses (LRP-1467) from Swat and (LZ-1475) from Swabi, heading towards Karachi were racing to overtake each other when they overturned after colliding.
As a result, eight people died on the spot and 75 others sustained injuries.
According to Rescue-1122 and hospital sources, 52 injured were admitted to DHQ hospital from where nine of them were referred to Nishtar hospital Multan due to precarious condition.
The dead were identified as Sadam Hussain (Peshawar), Saima (Swat), driver Iqbal, Sadiq (Swat), Muhammad Sajid (Swat), and three others whose identity has yet to be ascertained.
