WATCH: Giant-legged pigeon that seems from out of space looks two-in-one birds

A video of a pigeon from a fancy UK breed went viral on social media, which dubbed it a "mutant pigeon" because of its puffed-out breast and legs so big and long that people suspected it to be an artificial intelligence (AI) generated or a weird species of a bird from out of space.

The video was uploaded on the social media platform TikTok with over 18.6 million views, as people expressed their thoughts about what it could be or whether it was real.

This pigeon is known as an English Pouter which is said to have developed over many years of particular type of breeding along with other varieties of pigeons. Moreover, they are also said to be the descendants of the rock pigeon.

In the video, the pigeon can be seen walking on a table with its long legs and big chest making it tall. Its legs were covered with feather pants.

It is a species of homing pigeon that’s the "tallest breed of fancy pigeons with some of the biggest ones being 16 inches in height," according to Backyard Poultry.

People started to react to the video with some saying: "This is not nature's work, this poor thing is waddling around not seeing its own feet. They come in all shapes and sizes."

"Like different types of domestic dogs, domesticated pigeons come in all shapes and sizes like this pouter pigeon," they wrote, as reported by The Daily Star.

The bird's almost other-worldly appearance caused one person to ask: "What in the Pokémon is that?"

Another user added that they did not realise that the bird was actually a "special breed" and was supposed to look like that.

"The bird is very unique," they wrote.

While many commented about its long legs, one person wrote: "Never skip leg day!"

This breed is also regarded as the "supermodel of the pigeon world" due to its unusual look.
