Succession star Sarah Snook all set to return to London’s West End for a theatre adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray.
According to Variety, the Golden Globe winner will play all 26 roles in the adaptation via an interplay of live performance and video.
The story of Wilde is based on a deal with the devil for eternal youth at the cost of Dorian Gray’s soul.
The outlet reported that the production, adapted and directed by Kip Williams, who is the artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company.
Snook also expressed her elation for doing theatre in London.
“I am elated to return to the London stage in such an astonishing piece of theatre,” said the actress.
Snook explained, “From Oscar Wilde’s remarkable original text to Kip Williams’ stunning adaptation, this story of morality, innocence, narcissism, and consequence is going to be thrilling to re-create for a new audience.”
“I can’t wait,” she added.
On the other hand, Williams also chimed in and stated, “In creating a new piece of theatre like The Picture of Dorian Gray you always hope to have the opportunity to share it with a wider audience.”
“I am so excited for theatre lovers in London to experience our show and am thrilled to have the extraordinary Sarah Snook bringing to life the many characters of Oscar Wilde’s remarkable story,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, The Picture of Dorian Gray will begin performances on January 23, 2024.
