The Defence Housing Authority (DHA), one of Karachi's upscale residential areas has banned non-residents from entering the locale's Phase VI's Nisar Shaheed Park, The News reported.
Taking to Twitter on Thursday, the housing authority said the non-DHA residents were no longer allowed to enter the park.
DHA requested its residents to abide by the procedures set by the area's management for entry in the park “to ensure a friendly and peaceful environment.”
It also said that residents must visit the park with family members.
Moreover, the authority also issued a dress code for a stroll in the park for the DHA residents. It said the visitors were required to be “appropriately dressed.
The tweet read that those who wished to visit the park must be dressed in a sports kit or at the very least, joggers paired with Shalwar Kameez or pants and shirt.
“Entry of non-DHA residents with or without family is not allowed,” the tweet read. However, it did not mention the procedure for identifying non-DHA residents.
When contacted for comments regarding the new guidelines, DHA spokesperson Farrukh Rizvi did not respond despite repeated calls.
However, speaking to a local media outlet, he briefly said that the decision was taken “in the best interest of the society’s residents”.
“Rest [of the] details will follow,” he added.
