Pakistan are set to face India on October 15 in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 in Ahmedabad as the cricket body announced the match schedule for the most anticipated event.
Pakistan's first two matches in the event will be against qualifiers on October 6 and 12, respectively.
The mega event will kick off on October 5 with a repeat of the 50-over World Cup final in 2019 when England will take on New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Pakistan will begin their World Cup campaign with a match against Qualifier 1 in Hyderabad on October 6, which will be followed by hosts India's first match against five-time World Cup winners Australia in Chennai on October 8.
The schedule for Cricket World Cup 2023:
A total of 10 teams will participate in the showcase event, the first eight having already qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League.
The final two spots will be decided at the end of the Qualifier tournament currently being played in Zimbabwe. The event will conclude on July 9.
Each team plays the other nine in a round-robin format, with the top four qualifying for the knockout stage and semi-finals.
Besides Pakistan vs India thriller, the tournament is filled with a host of crucial clashes.
After the face-off against India, Pakistan will take on Australia in Bengaluru on October 20, while England clash against South Africa on October 20 in Mumbai.
Later, India will go up against New Zealand and try to avenge their 2019 semi-final defeat on October 22 at the picturesque Dharamsala venue and Australia will face arch-rivals England on November 4 in Ahmedabad.
India will be waiting for England on October 29 in Lucknow, who defeated them in the semi-final of the 2022 T20 World Cup just last year.
The group stage will end with the match between Pakistan and England on November 12.
The first semi-final will be held on November 15 in Mumbai and the second semi-final will be held on November 16 in Kolkata. Both semi-finals will have a reserve day.
The Final will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19 with November 20 slated as the reserve day.
All three knock-out fixtures will be day-night affairs, with the matches beginning at 14:00 local time.
The tournament will be hosted at 10 venues.
Meanwhile, warm-up matches will be hosted in Guwahati, Thiruvananthapura, and Hyderabad from 29 September to 3 October.
