Brazilian fan gives away entire fortune to Neymar Jr in will

In a rather unconventional act of philanthropy, a dedicated Brazilian fan decided to leave his entire fortune to the renowned soccer player Neymar Jr. 

While some may question the choice of a wealthy athlete as the recipient of such a generous gesture, this anonymous fan believes that Neymar is a deserving individual who resonates with his own life experiences and values.

Expressing his deep admiration for the national team and Brazil's football heritage, the fan revealed that he feels a strong connection with Neymar, which compelled him to formally include the striker's name in his will. 

In an interview with the local media outlet Metropoles, he stated, "I like Neymar, I identify with him a lot. I also suffer from defamation, and I am very family-oriented. The relationship he has with his father reminds me of my own with my late father."

Concerned about his own declining health, the 30-year-old fan realised that he had no suitable heirs to whom he could bequeath his belongings. Fearing that the government or estranged relatives might claim his assets, he saw this unusual act as a way to ensure that his possessions would go to someone he admired. 

While he had previously attempted to give his assets directly to Neymar, he encountered obstacles, leading him to pursue the legal route of a formal will. The document was duly signed by a notary's office in Porto Alegre.

It is worth noting that Neymar, who currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain, is recognised as one of the highest-paid athletes globally. According to Forbes, his estimated earnings for 2023 reach a staggering $85 million. However, the fan believes that Neymar's character goes beyond his wealth, stating, "I know that, above all, he is not greedy, something a bit rare these days."
