Inter Miami CF has made a significant move by appointing Gerardo "Tata" Martino, former Barcelona and Argentina coach, as their new manager.

The decision sets the stage for an exciting reunion with compatriot Lionel Messi, highlighting the ambitious direction the Major League Soccer (MLS) team aims to take.

Martino, known for his successful tenure with Barcelona and coaching Messi at both club and international levels, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to Inter Miami CF. The 60-year-old coach was most recently in charge of Mexico's national team before leaving following their group-stage exit in the 2022 World Cup. Martino's appointment comes after the club parted ways with former manager Phil Neville on June 1.

Jorge Mas, the managing owner of Inter Miami CF, expressed his optimism about the club's future with Martino at the helm: "We are very happy to be able to welcome Tata to Inter Miami. We feel he is a coach who matches our ambitions as a club, and we're optimistic about what we can accomplish together."

Co-owner David Beckham also praised Martino, asserting, "We are confident that his achievements in the game and experience as a head coach will inspire our team and excite our fans."

Martino himself shared his excitement about the new opportunity, noting, "I'm very excited to join a big club like Inter Miami, and I know together we can accomplish many great things. The club has the necessary infrastructure to be a major competitor in the region, and I believe that with everyone's hard work and commitment, we can get there."

Taking charge of an Inter Miami CF team currently at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, Martino's arrival brings renewed hope. Furthermore, the expected signings of Messi and former Barcelona teammate Sergio Busquets will undoubtedly add significant firepower to the squad, signaling the club's ambitions to make a strong comeback in the league.

With Martino's extensive managerial experience, which includes winning the MLS Cup with Atlanta United in 2018, success both domestically and internationally seems well within reach for Inter Miami CF. The club's decision to appoint Tata Martino showcases their determination to compete for titles and establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in MLS.
