At least two people were killed with another 28 injured in a mass shooting incident that took place in the US city of Baltimore on Sunday, according to the police.
The police have commenced an investigation into the latest gun violence incident which took place at the 800 block of Gretna Court leaving three people in critical condition.
US media reports suggest that the incident happened in the Brooklyn Homes area in the south of the city in the state of Maryland, where people had gathered for an event called "Brooklyn Day".
The police stated that an 18-year-old woman was declared dead at the scene and a 20-year-old man succumbed to gunshot wounds at a local hospital.
As the police rushed to the scene, nine people were taken to local hospitals, and 20 victims walked into area hospitals across the region.
There have been no arrests however, police are acquiring and seeking the help of nearby CCTV cameras to identify the suspect.
Baltimore Police Acting Commissioner Richard Worley said: "Police received multiple calls after 12:30am, and arrived to find one woman dead and another nine people suffering from gunshot wounds."
There is no information on suspects or a motive at this time, but investigators are "working an extensive crime scene," Worley said.
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott described the incident as a "reckless, cowardly act that happened here and that has permanently altered many lives and cost two people their lives."
He said the tragedy “highlights the impacts and the need to deal with the overproliferation of illegal guns on our streets and the ability for those who should not have them to get their hands on them.”
The mayor also said he is mobilising every resource available to assist in the investigation.
His message to the perpetrator was simple: “We will not stop until we find you — and we will find you."
"Until then, I hope with every single breath that you take that you think about the lives that you took and you think about the lives that you impacted here tonight," he added.
